Wow all these costumes are great. TheFontBandit, that is such a cool idea getting your swords to stick to your back with magnets! The swords also look really great. I'm afraid I haven't seen Fushigi Yugi/Scrapped Princess or played Dragon Age, but from your reference pictures everything looks really spot on. XD

I guess my favorite cosplay would have to be Vanitas from KH: Birth By Sleep.

I guess the hardest thing was the muscles, I had never done anything like it before (it was even my first time sewing with stretchy fabric) but I'm so happy with the way that it turned out. My weapon is a bit of a mess and there are definitely somethings I would like to do over with WonderFlex do you guys have any tips or tutorials saved that you found useful?

That's wonderful! The muscles look great - I wouldn't even have known where to start with those! The keyblade(s) actually look really good in the photo, but I think Wonderflex on top would work well too, especially to make it more durable. I'd swear I've seen a tutorial using insulation foam and Wonderflex, but I'll look around to see if I can find it again (I might just be imagining things again).

I did mold Wonderflex straight onto Gatorboard (a tougher, more durable version of foamcore) without any trouble, for my Isabela swords.

I just recently was told that this really inexpensive resin called "Pour-On" was good for sealing stuff and making it sturdy. I'm working on putting it on some Model Magic in the future. If it works really good, I don't see why you couldn't apply it to some pink installation foam. There is a ton of resins you can apply to pink foam that work, you just have to cover it in tap or newspaper first and then sand it down nice and smooth.

I've never worked with wonderflex. Would be nice is someone posted about their experience with the stuff in this forum.

I wanna 'brag' about my favorite costume. Its my Mommy Fortuna from the Last Unicorn costume. I worked for 6 months on this costume to get it all perfect. I still am in awe of how the mask turned out for it. It really looks spot on. The tree helmet I had to fudge and give artistic liberties too, but overall I made it more realistic to a Yue Tree and added moss and I love it.

The best part of this costume is its one of my oldest costumes and its one of my oldest costumes that has not fallen apart beyond repair. So if I could find a good location for a shoot I REALLY wanna do a Midnight Carnival shoot.

Here's a picture of a friend of mine showing off one of this pictures to Peter S. Beagle.

And here's a kind of unrelated photo, but kinda also related. I showed him a picture on my phone when I met him, but I'm not sure how well he could see it. He's getting kind of older. He then told me a story and gave me the biggest hug. This is one reason I love this costume so much. It's kind of my childhood and this photo and making this costume are some of my favorite achievements in cosplay.

That is phenomenal! The face is just perfect, the tree part just fabulous, and getting a hug from Peter S. Beagle is so sweet and awesome! :)

I've never worked with resin, but I'm intrigued. Maybe we should have some material-specific threads for discusdion about working with different media. :) I've only used Wonderflex for the one costume, but I'd share my first-timer, trial-and-error learning experiences in a Wonderflex thread.

Thanks! I'm definitely getting more confident in purchasing some.

Thanks for the resin tip this actually would be perfect for another project I'm thinking about starting.
Also Holy Crap! That Fortuna costume is amazing!! The mask is really well done how did you make it? I also love the way you made her fingers sit on top of your fingers. That's a great solution to her hands.

That's a great idea! I would love to participate in that! I'm always interested in how people solve the problems in making the impossible possible.

Mine have got to be our Plugsuits from Evangelion 2.0.

More photos here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjv1sF9E

These were made by both me (the Mari) and Tessceres (the Asuka) in the span of about 2 months. I agreed to this not really knowing what I was getting myself into, but I am glad I did in the end. All the hard work paid off. I did most of the sewing for Kaworu and myself, and Tesseres did most of the work on hers and Rei. She did all the patterning, and I did most of the grunt work (stretch stitching, covering stretch piping, covering backpacks, hand-basting every seam before we stretch stitched it, ect). She did most of my bodice, and also spraying the purple vinyl with paint to tint it more blue. Just about every different kind of foam in existence went into these things, and no details were spared. I don't know if we will ever wear them again, but I love them so much!

One of my costumes I'm really proud of is the ball gowns I made last year for my friend and myself.
Image
I don't really have any good images that show how massive these dresses are. They both took around 12 yards of fabric and at least 40 hours of work. They're all hand draped and such.

My favourite costume to wear though is Pinkie Pie xD The dress is comfy and the wig (My first Arda! :D) Is so nice to wear. (=

As per our discussion a little while ago on wonderflex, I've put together a "tutorial" on how I made Miaka's anklet over on my blog. If anyone is interested in some of the steps I take when working with wonderflex, or just wants to see me explain the process behind one of my proudest accessories, check it out here: How I Made Miaka's Anklet.

OK, the costume I'm most proud of, right now, is my Charden Flamberg cosplay from Black Cat. http://quinnthespazz.deviantart.com/gallery/29817662#/d4g7bpi

Mostly because of that hat. The the is 15 Inches tall and made just out of poster board. I'm also super proud of this cosplay because It was kind of a whim decision to cosplay Charden for the convention I first wore it at, and the first time I ever cosplayed Charden for a photoshoot with my friends, it was pretty terrible. My Charden cosplay came a long way and I'm thrilled with the results. Though I need to get some more recent pictures as Charden, because I have combed out my nasty wig since this photo was taken.

Other random things I'm awfully proud of though are my prince Lui vest from Ludwig Kakumei: http://quinnthespazz.deviantart.com/gallery/34394588?offset=24#/d4a1zmo (The vest was a plain black vest that I covered entirely in duct tape, no small feat)

and my Creed Diskenth Sword from Black Cat:
http://i815.photobucket.com/albums/zz77/Fang_fangirl/CreedSword.jpg which is also made out of duct tape and cardboard.

But costumes that I'm most proud of as a whole...definitely Charden.
